Type Locality and Naming

Along Chalmansay, Chatkal Range. Based on data from A.R. Blazhevich, 1973 (Safarov et al., 1999).

Synonym: Chalmansay Moraines, Чалмансайская морена


Lithology and Thickness

The body is represented by moraine deposits of bottom and terminal moraines. Composed of poorly sorted coarse clastic material, usually poorly rounded, forming a kind of pavement. The terminal moraine is a ridge of sharp-angled and poorly rounded fragments. Sorting of the material is absent. It is characteristic that up to a depth of 1-1.5 m from the surface, fine-earth filling is practically absent, and the moraine consists only of large unconsolidated fragments.Thickness up to 30 m.
